When demo'ing the plaster ceiling, I discovered (drum roll please) ADULT DIAPERS used as insulation. Yes, read that again. Adult diapers.
I wasn't that happy about handling them. We couldn't tell if they were used or not. Ew. I know right? I'm going to stop thinking about it now.
Anywho, here are the final demolition photos:

Even though demo is one of my favorite things to do, I'm glad it is over. There is only so much dust 2 lungs can take. Marc's look here about sums it up:

Next up, removing all the nails from everything and doing the new header for the bigger opening to the dining room and that is only the beginning.

Eeeew! The more I learn about this house, the more it seems like a legit crack house.
ReplyDeleteSick! What were they thinking? Congrats on your great progress over the weekend!
ReplyDeletewhat. the. eff.
ReplyDeleteLordy, I hope those diapers were unused....
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the great demo job! I'm laughing b/c it actually looks better now, w/ no ceiling and drywall, than it did with the previous owner's cabinets and such.
Your kitchen demo looks so much more interesting than my kitchen demo. Diapers? Ingenious. All I found were plastic bags.
