One Year Ago...

5/15/08

Last weekend as I was procrastinating studying and landscaping in the front, a neighbor walked by and complimented me on how the house was coming along. I told her thanks, but it felt like it was moving pretty slow. She said, Well gosh, just think about what it looked like a year ago. And I told her I couldn't bear to!

Then her daughter asked to pet Tuna, who has a fear of children after being chased by my 2 nephews (who are actually really nice to cats). Anyway, as I was trying to catch Tuna and hold her so the girl could pet her, (with no success, she just clawed my chest and ran for the hills) I started thinking about what the house indeed did look like one year ago.... Then I got the chills and shivers so bad that the poor neighbor lady grabbed her child and fled yelling "I knew there had to be druggies still living here! (Just joking.)

Anybunny, Here is that flashback and forward in photo format:

Ah, the curb appeal!

Backyard, much less scary!

Old back "porch" and bathroom on that porch!

All demo'd and rebuilt and ready for screening-in!

Living room minus all the weird "antiques".

Parlor all freshened up!

Kitchen, even during remodel is better than the before!

Sewing room with my new paint effect. (Hey, at least I like it!)

Bathroom with NO HOLES IN THE FLOOR!

Phew, see I don't feel so bad anymore! I should try to take pictures in the exact same locations as the before so we get the full effect.

  1. Love it! Your bathroom looks so fresh and clean! I can't wait to do another round of good before-and-afters. Gotta get a few more things done first.

How the heck do you get the photos to post side-by-side like that? I've tried to no avail.

  2. When you import them, leave the justification set to none. Then when they come into your blog, click next to one and hit the space bar, then cut and paste (ctrl-x, ctrl-v) the other one next to it.
I feel like I might have had to chance a setting for this to work, so if you can't get it to work, let me know and I'll figure it out.

  3. Wow, that's some big improvements! I can't wait until we can redo our exterior and we just moved in. : ) I see your next test is mechanical and electrical. That's my forte, well at least the mechanical side is. What all do you have to learn about HVAC?

  8. You guys have done a great job! I was looking for your exterior paint colors, are they posted somewhere?
I love your use of chartreuse and citron colors, I am always drawn to them and have trouble finding them, esp in AK. I have been on the hunt for chartreuse curtains, and am so desperate I would sew them but I can't find the right color fabric, here is a picture of some great ones from metropolitan home, I hope this will open for you.
