We clearly need to insulate the upper attic better because the snow is not as thick there as it is on the kitchen roof.

ReplyDeleteOn that attic insulation, take a close look at both closed and open cell polyurethane spray foam.
I suspect it wouldn't be too expensive to have done if you shop it hard enough.
Also, it's possible that there's a DIY application that you can do.
With the foam we sprayed, our livable attic is very comfortable even a day after we turn the heat way down.
BTW, nice transformation.
