I should be posting about the floor patch that Marc is doing from the dining room to the hallway, but I'm way more excited about something else.
Having a Halfway Kitchen means that you can pull all your wedding gifts out of their boxes (after over 2 years!) and finally start using them. This includes my awesome tangerine orange kitchen aid mixer. For Christmas this year, my Mother-in-law gave me the ice cream maker attachment. Trial #1 (grapefruit sorbet) was absolutely delicious!
Marc already has ideas for wine sorbet, parsley ice cream and a bunch of other crazy stuff, but it is my ice cream maker and I'm taking it slow! Trial #2 will be grapefruit ice cream or gelato!
Recipe for Grapefruit Sorbet:
~4 cups grapefruit juice (squeeze fresh grapefruits then scrape some of the pulp out too)~2 cups simple syrup (take 2 cups sugar and 2.5 cups water, bring to boil, then cook 10 mins longer until all sugar is dissolved.)
Refrigerate both of the above items for at least 8 hours. Then combine them in the kitchen aid ice cream mixer and spin for 7-12 minutes. Transfer to another container and freeze for 2 hours. Enjoy!

Am totally jealous, would love a KitchenAid! Pity about the price. I've never seen them in orange - it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to finally start using some of the stuff we got for our kitchens, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMine was less dramatic. I got a big old Weber grill for my birthday last summer, thinking I'd be in the place by October. Big, hearty, LOL!
I unpacked and assembled it around New Years.
Still, it's like getting the gift for the second time!
:)
