Pre-Halloween, Pre-MoogFest Party Recap!

11/3/10

Party was a smashing success!
Sadly, Marc had to work quite a bit during the weekend, but thankfully, Franca decided that she needed to sleep quite a bit during the weekend! Gotta love a baby who gets phantom pink-eye the day before your party, forcing you to stay home, play & do party-prep and who also decides to take a 2 hour nap right before the party starts. Heck yes!

In addition the the exterior decorations, I already posted about, I fancied-up the interior a bit too:

We had witches feet in the fireplace.
(Idea courtesy of the lovely Lorie from Be Different, Act Normal.)

Plenty of fake spider webs to go with the real ones.
(When Marc saw me putting these up he exclaimed: "Yes! Now we can clean less!")

The spread

And lastly, the best decorating idea yet! The idea of doing house "eye" windows came from my friend Lara. She sent me a couple of great links and I got inspired. Only, I wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Our kitchen windows are still uncased and VERY unsightly, so I decided to put the "eyes" over them. The added benefit being that our party was daytime, so this way, we could actually see the the eyes from the inside.

Good thing we had contractor-grade trash bags on hand!

And here are some fabulous photos of people in costume!
(I'm going to make them thumbnail size only, as to protect identities.)

Devo Family (Brilliant!)

The Lobster Family
(This was pure genius! They were dressed up lobsters acting like they were eating humans.
Complete with a bib with the image of a human on it!)

The Shining Twins
Seriously Creepy.

Freida Kahlo

And us as an episode of COPS.
(Marc is a fugitive, I'm a meth head and Franca is Officer Franc n Beans.)

And no, I can't believe she kept the mustache on either!

  2. Hilarious! We all know how creative you are, but you've also got some seriously creative pals with those wonderful costumes! The Shining Twins are awesome! Great ideas, loved the witch legs and the house eyes. So much fun!

  3. Oh, and we both had the same wave of genius with the x-rays. I just actually used real ones and hung them in the windows of the porch! http://circa1972vs1906.tumblr.com/
