Simple DIY Firepit

A couple of weekends ago, Marc and I wanted to have a little romantic time, so I threw together a DIY fire pit based on something I saw online at Renew Redo!. We basically took a metal tub that we already had and put some bricks at the bottom to allow for airflow. Genius!

Total cost: $0.

(Even the wood we burned was scrap.)

Don't mind my silly illustration above. I googled "fire pit romance" and that last image is what I got.

It really worked well and we plan to do it again, but in the meantime we are brainstorming a more permanent solution. (Not sure how many more fires this metal tub can withstand.)

We are thinking of DIYing this one also. Are design constraints are:

  1. It need to be modern-looking (duh).
  2. It needs to be moveable. We don't anything permanent in the ground in this spot.
  3. I'd like for it to have a bottom so we aren't left with a pile of ash when we move it.
I really like this idea from loll designs. Metal, moveable, modern and with table top. Great! Wonder if we could get my dad to do some more welding.... ;)
