Happy 2nd Birthday Franca

3/3/12

On her 2nd birthday morning, Franca came down the stairs after getting dressed in her new outfit from Aunt Missy. (Thanks!) Marc did a terrific husband-ly thing and blocked her view of the new 4' tall slide on the other side of the living room so she would see the dollhouse first.

I had to hold back tears when I saw her face. She was so excited! The first thing she did was put Mrs. Ling on the potty of course. (The Ling's were the only family we could find with brown hair like us.)

Then, much to Marc's chagrin, she marched Mr. Ling right up the side of the house and in the front door. (Marc could not understand how I could put the front door on the 3rd floor. I had to explain that with this style of dollhouse, if you put the living room and therefore front door on the first floor, you will just end up on your belly the whole time playing. No fun.)

Being a parent is honestly the coolest thing ever. That I can share my love for this dollhouse with her while putting my own spin on it has been amazing. I love that something my Grandpa made with his own hands FOR ME is now alive and getting so much love in our house. (By the way my Grandfather was a marine, not in the Airforce like I absently-mindedly said in an early post.)

I have a ton of memories of the stories I concocted while playing with this dollhouse and toast those Franca is about to create.

Happy 2nd Birthday to the sweetest, funniest, most lovely little girl.
I love you Franca.

(and then she hit the slide)

Stay tuned Monday morning for the full dollhouse reveal!

  2. Happy birthday to Franca!!! The dollhouse was definitely done the right way - keeping things eye level was genius.
