Play/Guest Room Reveal!

1/22/13

So this room still needs some touch-ups (including a radiator front cover), but because I'm trying to get some posts lined up for after baby, I'm going to do a reveal anyway.  Here goes:

MY ALL-TIME FAV BEFORES
MAN, this room was scary!

The not so dramatic transformation of
PLAY ROOM TO GUEST ROOM

Sure it is a little cluttered, but it is a playroom ~350 days of the year!  Franca loves it.  She is a little confused though.  If I tell her to go get something in "the playroom" I can see the gears turning until she realizes I mean "the junk room".  Sad, but true.  Poor girl.  Living her first three years in renovation chaos.

Here are some
DETAIL SHOTS
and notes on them.

Here is some hook art that my Grandmother did.  Amazing right?  Imagine how long that took her!
Plus the Day of the Dead figures from our wedding made it into this room.  Love them.

Can't rave enough about these Star Wars posters from this Etsy seller.

Also a big rave for this blind from HD.  (Very light blocking at night which is essential for a guest room on the alley.)  Marc also rigged up some art hangers for Franca's masterpieces.

Ah, another room from dungeon to done.
Feels good!

  2. Beautiful job! It looks absolutely fabulous. Can I ask where the bed is from and if it's a pop-up trundle? I've been looking for something for our guest room that can be a twin bed most of the time but expand for guests (without them having to sleep on different levels like a regular trundle). Thanks and great work!

    1. Thanks! It is the Brimnes daybed from ikea. Twin when closed, king when opened. We have two of the sultan florvag foam mattress. We stack them for the twin, then unstack and add an egg crate king topper for the king. (Egg crate stores under bed).

    2. I wanted to add that the Brimnes isn't the best quality piece, but it is very functional! Bith sets of our parents have slept in it and liked it.

  3. Awesome job! It really looks great, you surely nailed it. I really love the Skywalker poster. If only our house had more room for Star Wars memorabilia. One can hope.

  4. That room looks great! The pic with your dad's feet hanging out of the ceiling is pretty awesome. Where did you get the gray rugs? Love them!
