So glad I'm not alone in my *messiness*.

To M: We did not use a stripper, my husband just scraped all the loose paint off and we sanded lightly.
Sanding can be dangerous in an old house, but our paint is not lead.

It's probably not the same on the inside of the window, but you know when you paint the outside of the window you're SUPPOSED to get some of the paint on the glass. It helps seal the putty around the glass and makes it last longer.

I haven't painted any of the multi pane windows in my house because i used to have delusions that I was going to scrape and sand all of them first. Now I'm just lazy.

That's how I paint our windows, too. I try and be extra messy because it really is easier with more paint on the glass. Except I need to buy a hand scraper; holding the razor blade alone is a tiny bit nerve-wracking.
